The head of the department is Tatyana Dubovik, MD, PhD, doctor of the highest qualification category, HFA regular member.

Cardiology department №3 with 20 beds was organized in 2006 and provides highly specialized routine and emergency diagnostic and therapeutic help to patients with chronic heart failure (CHF).

MAIN DIRECTIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT'S WORK

- Examination, treatment and determination of the tactics of further management of patients with terminal heart failure;

- Preoperative diagnostic procedures, and premedication of patients with CHF for cardiac surgery and/or interventional treatment with the use of modern therapeutic approaches;

- Preoperative preparation and postoperative management of patients after the use of alternative interventional methods of CHF correction (Ancora, Mitraclip, Bioventrix, TAVI, stem cell implantation, RFA of sympathetic nerves of the renal arteries);

- Postoperative treatment and early rehabilitation of patients with complications in the postoperative period after cardiovascular reconstructive surgeries;

- Preoperative preparation, postoperative management, early rehabilitation and treatment in the long-term period of patients after heart, lung, "heart-lung", "heart-kidney", "heart-liver" combined transplantation;

- Preoperative preparation, postoperative management and early rehabilitation of patients after implantation of assisted circulatory systems (LVAD/BiVAD);

- Diagnosis and medication correction of complicated rhythm disturbances;

- Training of interns, clinical residents, and physicians in the workplace;

In recent years the department has introduced a number of advanced domestic and world technologies of CHF correction:

- Transcatheter left ventricular remodeling with Ancora Heart AccuCinch and Bioventrix systems;

- Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and mitral valve implantation (MitraClip);

- Transcatheter endocardial stem cell implantation;

- Radiofrequency ablation of the sympathetic nerves of the renal arteries;

- Implantation of cardioverter-defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization devices;

The department employs highly qualified specialists, with a high level of theoretical and practical training, and scientific degrees.

- Elena Kurlyanskaya, MD, Associate Professor, Deputy Director for Internal Medicine, Head of Chronic Heart Failure Laboratory;

- Ludmila Gelis, MD, Professor, Chief Researcher of Heart Surgery Laboratory.

FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT OF THE DEPARTMENT

The department is facilitated with all necessary high-tech equipment to provide highly qualified medical care in accordance with its profile and meet all modern requirements:

- medical technology (multifunctional bedside monitors for assessing central hemodynamic parameters with a central station and the possibility of 24-hour monitoring of ECG, blood pressure, blood oxygen saturation);

- availability of points of access to insufflation of humidified oxygen in each ward;

- comfort (separate shower and toilet in each room, local lighting, intercom with the nurse's station);

- all wards are intended for a small number of patients (2–4 persons);

- there are one single and two double wards of superior comfort, additionally equipped with a refrigerator, TV, Wi-Fi;

- electrocardiograph;

- external defibrillator;

- temporary pacemakers;

- bactericidal recirculators;

- dressing room;

- physical rehabilitation room for physical therapy.

Employees of the department provide consultative and therapeutic assistance to other medical and preventive institutions of Belarus, actively combine clinical and scientific work, participate in scientific projects and researches, regularly attend domestic and international congresses and conferences.
