Conference dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the first heart transplant in Belarus
On February 15, 2019, a conference dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the first heart transplant in Belarus was held in Minsk.
A conference dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the first heart transplant in Belarus was held. The first operation was carried out on the night of February 11-12, 2009, under the leadership of Yuri Petrovich Ostrovsky. The conference was attended by over 230 people. Since then, about fifty heart transplants take place annually. The conference gathered in Minsk leading cardiologists not only from our country, but also from Russia, Kazakhstan, the Baltic countries, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine.
Dmitry Leonidovich Pinevich, First Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Belarus, presented certificates to cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, anaesthesiologists, nurses who participated in heart transplants during these 10 years.
Director of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center «Cardiology», Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Professor, Doctor of Medicine Alexander Gennadievich Mrochek handed over the «Letters of Administration of the Moscow District of Minsk», «Thanks of the Administration of the Moscow District of Minsk», «Diplomas of the Republican Scientific and Practical «Cardiology» to the employees of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center Cardiology on behalf of the Administration of the Moscow District of Minsk.
Yuri Petrovich Ostrovsky, Head of the Heart Surgery Laboratory of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center «Cardiology», Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences, warmly thanked and congratulated his team - a team of employees who had performed the first heart transplant 10 years ago. Now our heart surgeons save lives not only to Belarusians, but also help their neighbors: Ukraine and the Transcaucasian republics.
